POI stands for Points Of Interest. These are useful locations on your map such as petrol stations, hotels, restaurants etc. Via the map of MyRoute-app you can easily search for POI's on your map based on our POI database. POIs can be added to any route and, if necessary, exported to your navigation system. Always check in advance that your navigation system supports the use of external POIs to avoid disappointment.

Some preliminary remarks:

  • POIs are not loaded until you do not move the map.
  • The more you zoom in, the faster the POIs are loaded. In addition, POIs will only load if you have zoomed in far enough on the map, see below.
  • A POI will not be exported within a POI file until it has been added to the route. See also chapter 3 "POI library" of this manual.

The POI Tab

You will find POIs on the left-hand side of the screen in the route editor. The three options relating to POIs are dealt with one by one below.

A. Search and add

There are many different points of interest that a user can add to a route. Within the search section of the POI tab, you can search our POI database for the appropriate POI for your route. You can turn on the appropriate 'type' of POI by simply clicking on the specific type of POI:

Please note: when you have zoomed in enough, the folder needs a few seconds to load the POIs. If you are in doubt whether you have zoomed in enough to see POIs, check if you see a blue bar under POI with "zoom in to load map". In that case, you will need to zoom in more!

 Add

When you are looking for a POI and have found it, you can add it. To do so, click on the POI

1. Add POI.

2. Zoom in on the location of the POI

If you have clicked on 'add POI' you will see the following screen:

1.1 Give a name to the POI.

1.2 Indicate whether the point should be added as a waypoint.

1.3 Indicate whether the point should be added as a POI.

1.4 Save the choice.

This way a POI will be added as a waypoint or as a POI to your route and will be present in the route/POI file.

B. Manage

The 'manage' tab allows you to add your own POIs to the route. Simply click the 'Add' button and then click on a location on the map. You will then be given the option to name the POI and by clicking accept you have added your own POI to the route.

C. The POI library and uploading POI's (Gold)

In our POI library, you can import POI files and display them in their entirety within each of your routes. You can use multiple imported POI files!

  • First click on add
  • In the pop-up menu, click 'choose file' (1). Your explorer will open and here you click on the POI file you want to import in MyRoute-app.
  • Finally, click on 'import'.

A loading screen will appear and after that, you will see the filename of your POI file in the library!

You will see the following options for the POI file:

1 This button deletes the imported file.

2 Use this button to change the name of the POI.

3 Use this button to activate the imported list of POIs and show them in the opened route!

Pay attention!

A POI will only be exported if it has been added to the route (see chapter 1 > Add as route point). Just showing POIs in the Route lab is not enough to export them.

Note: Uploading via start

Finally, you can also import POIs by means of the 'upload' button on the general Routelab screen or the 'new' button in your route list. You need to select the POI option instead of route/route-track/tracklog option. You will get the same options as the POI library mentioned above. The POI file will then be imported in the same way.
